    Why does Windows Defender now say that the Windows/System32/Drivers/etc/hosts file is a threat?


    This file has been here from the very beginning & has not changed. Why is it now a threat?

    Can i use the hosts file(found in windows/system32/drivers/etc) to link localhost to an ip address.

    Check hosts file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc). The blocked sites should be listed there.
