  1. Upgrading and moving W10 to an SSD.

Hi, so I have a question regarding W10, SSD, HDD, and transferring W10 from the HDD to the SSD, making the SSD the boot drive and erasing all the data from the HDD to use as a mass storage device. The reason I am asking is because one of my friends is going upgrade his build and I offered to help him since he isn't too tech savvy. He wants an SSD as his boot drive and wants to reuse his current HDD as a mass storage device for games, videos, and larger files. I've done some research on this and seemed to find things like "cloning" the entire HDD drive to the SSD and making the SSD boot option 1 in the bios. I feel like with this method, the HDD will still have W10 on it and might confuse the system. I want to erase 99% of the HDD data so he can use it for mass storage and move W10 to the SSD. Any tips, videos, how-to's? Much much thanks in advance!

  2. Move SSD (with windows 10) from old to new desktop

    Hello Greg,

I may try your suggestion of moving the SSD and buying a new windows 10 license. I also marked question answered in your first post.

In hindsight, I should have not upgraded to W10 and saved $139. Then built the new PC & bought a new W10 license.

    SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling/vibrating. Possible?

This has been suggested several times already, and it has been suggested you try to move the SSD, remove it, or even suspend it in your case. Will you please try one of these?

If you don't understand vibration and resonance, please refer to @dorsetknob 's post above. *Smile Upgrading and moving W10 to an SSD. :) It has been explained that something else moving/vibrating (even if you don't think they're vibrating they are...), fans, hard disk drives, and anything with a motor will cause some form of vibration at certain frequencies. This can be transfered through your case's chassis and where you mounted your SSD could be reaching a certain frequency that causes it to slightly move and rattle against the case.

We are suggesting you take action and report back..you keep asking questions from step 1...we should be on step 4 by now...that is solution.

Try what has been suggested and report back please. Otherwise all you're doing is leading this thread in an endless circle and the help will stop shortly thereafter.

    *Toast :toast:

  4. Upgrading and moving W10 to an SSD.

    reinstalling w10 onto ssd?

why not just put all in the ssd, isnt that simplier?

what's on the ssd? is there anything needed for w10 on the ssd right now?

are we able to reinstall on it, and the w10 on the hdd would still work?

' having it one place means'

well i looked at it again and it's not in steps and it's not concise

when was it last updated significantly?

i bet this hasn't been updated significantly or made better in any way for a very long time

one of the most important things right now is why w10 did this?

    does it always do this?

does it always happen on laptops with 2 drives? as asked in the reply

alot of the other questions asked in the reply are also not answered, so hopefully someone out there knows
