    w10 update downloading old graphics driver than what is already installed

    Windows update is downloading older intel graphics driver than what is already installed




    I had already downloaded and installed vga driver from intel site and have version 8476 already installed and working well.


    Today, Windows update prompts me to download and install v7642 that is older and that is what I had upgraded to my current driver.

    It is third time it is happening. It is not small size so that I give it a go ahead. It is massive 380 MB so it will waste my bandwidth and pc resources unnecessarily.


    There is no way of skipping or cancelling or stopping this particular download and unless I download and install it, other downloads of Defender etc are stuck and I cannot download only them.


    Why can't Microsoft match the versions properly to find the newer version, and don't revert to older ones?

    Driver Update/install

    Ok, so let me get the basics down first.

    1st delete the old driver(software or one by one)
    2nd Install new drivers from download
    3rd test new drivers

    Reboot after steps 1 & 2?

    MSI live update 6 (installing old drivers)

    So i recently installed W10 and because i have mostly MSI gear in my system (motherboard and GPU) I used MSI live update to install all the drivers and utilities. the first to install is the LAN driver but it seems that live update installed an old killer network manager and driver and because of that sometimes some programs just can't access the web. What i wanna know is if any has had any issues with MSI live update?

    Thank you for your help Andre. I've done everything you recommend:

    • I "uninstalled" NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 integrated display graphics adapter.
    • The only display adapter listed in (devmgmt.msc) device manager now is the recently installed ASUS EAH 5450 graphics card.
    • The update request on the manufacturer's web site says the display driver is the latest.
    However, I still get the message that the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 display graphics has not been made compatible with W10.

    What do you suggest?
