  1. Windows 10 update requiring password plus ghost account

Before I updated, I skipped the login screen- just straight into it, I'm in a trusted place. After the update, it requires me to enter my MS password, but on the login screen there's a new user account with my nickname associated with the account. I've gone into the netplwiz and disabled password, and in the advanced user management screen, I can see the account with the nickname, under "name" then my name under "Full Name" that I'm currently logged into.

I don't know where this second account is coming from, but more importantly, I have to enter my password to boot up. Any help?

  2. Startup account/password issue

I'm having an issue with Windows requesting a password when starting up my Windows 10 PC.

I have all password requirements turned off (as discussed in various other posts)

My Settings>Accounts>Family and other users show no other accounts to be active however the startup screen shows both my Microsoft account and another account under my name which appears to be a local account. It is this second "ghost" account which seems
to be throwing up a password issue. Upon startup this ghost account throws up a password incorrect notice however if I select my Microsoft account I can log in just fine using that.

Any suggestions on how to either remove this ghost account or just to solve the password requirement issue?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

  4. Windows 10 update requiring password plus ghost account

    Log in requires password

Since a recent update the PC now requires a password to log in.

I have tried Windows Key - netplwiz and unchecked "users must use password...."

There are no other users shown in the listing.

I use my Windows account as my log in which is also the administrator account.

Also on restart the lock screen shows - pretty picture and no taskbar. I have to press spacebar to release that and then it shows my account and requires a password input.
