Windows 10: Unable to delete files on hard drive, unable to even take ownership of files?

Hello, this problem has been persisting for a long time for me and I need help with this.

I'm unable to delete files from my hard drive, C: despite being the administrator, for certain folders I can even remove the contents inside, but I'm still unable to remove the folder itself, even if I confirm it with administrative privileges. I can delete photos, videos, music, and my downloads, but I can't delete anything from my hard drive itself.

I'll go into Properties and click on Security, and attempt to change ownership of it there, but it says access is denied after a certain point. This is a common occurrence with most files. If I go into Task manager, and try to access it there, it tells me "Can't access control editor, access denied."


Is there any way I can fix this? I've had this happening for months. I'm aware that there is probably a way through Safe Mode, but I don't know how.

Unable to take ownership of a folder.


Hi guys, I am unable to take ownership of a folder with my account which is the only administrator account in my PC.



This is the issue that pops up. I took ownership with the above account as shown below.






I have even applied the changes to all subfolders...but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

No, i delete ownership of a drive named ' Local Disk (D' . i wanted to change the security as i am unable to delete a file in the disk. Unfortunately, i accidentally delete all ownership to the disk
and am now unable to access it.

 

take ownership of hard drive

Hi guys,

I've been denied access on an external hard disk so I tried to take ownership but it won't let me do it.

It says it is unable to set new owner as there is not enough space on the disk.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
