  1. Xbox 360 controller prevents computer from idling

Ever since the 2004 update, my computer (a desktop) no longer turns off its screen when idle, no matter what power profile I use. I've narrowed it down to the xbox 360 controller: if I remove the controller, the computer will go idle and put the screen on standby when it's left unused (I normally set it to turn off the screen after 5 mins of inactivity). But as soon as I plug it again, the monitor will wake up and will no longer turn its screen off no matter how long I leave it on idle.

Some of the things I've done to try and narrow it down:

    • Tried plugging the controller into different ports (no dice. Windows won't go idle no matter which port I use, whether it's a 2.0 or 3.0 port)
    • Disabled and enabled USB selective suspend (no effect)
    • Reset all of my bios settings to the default (no effect, outside of enabling the IGP and built in LAN that I normally keep disabled)
    • Removed all USB devices except for the controller (no effect. Computer still won't idle)
    • Tried the controller on a laptop that is still on 1809. The laptop can go idle and will turn off its screen even if I have the controller enabled.
    • Updated the laptop to 2004. It no longer goes idle when the controller is plugged in.
    • Tried a different Xbox 360 controller (a Chinese knock-off, but still gets autodetected as an xbox 360 controller by windows). The same thing happens, it prevents Windows from going idle.

Anybody else had this problem? Or a solution?

  2. Xbox One controller being recognized as a 360 Controller

    Hi Stephan,

There are several reasons why your Xbox One controller is detected as an Xbox 360 controller by your PC. It is possible that the controller is not updated or if you previously used an Xbox 360 controller on the PC, it is still detecting its drivers instead
of the Xbox One controller drivers. To properly isolate your concern, please clarify the following information:

    • Have you used an Xbox 360 controller on the same computer before?
    • Does the error message occur on all of the games that you play?
    • Have you tried to update the controller?
    • Are you using an Xbox One Elite controller?

In the meantime, we suggest that you update the controller by following the steps on this

    Xbox 360 Wired Controller

    Hi,

The drivers for Xbox 360 Controllers are automatically installed on Windows 10. If your Xbox 360 wired controller is not detected by your PC, try plugging it into a different USB port, and then test it again.

We also suggest that you install all the critical and important updates on your computer by following the steps on this

    link
    .

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reply to this post anytime.
