Windows 10: "Can't Connect to This Network" Error

I am currently living in an off-campus apartment linked to my graduate college. Whenever I try to connect to the wifi network they provide, I need to enter my school username and password. However, whenever I try that, I simply get a "Can't connect to this network" error.

I am using an Acer laptop, model: Aspire E5-553G.

I am able to log into wifi at my friends' houses when I just need to enter a password.

I tried contacting the ITS department at my school, and they had me try several things: Forgetting the Network, updating my laptop, and disabling anti-virus software.

I also tried: toggling the airplane mode on and off, uninstalling the drivers for my network adapter, running commands in CMD to release my IP and flush the DNS scale, resetting my network settings, disabling IPv6 on my PC, and trying the Network troubleshooter which won't let me troubleshoot anything if I'm not connected to internet already.


Please help.

Can't connect to a network.

As you've mentioned, all your other devices were able to connect to the network except your computer. This issue may occur if there are other components that need to be configured properly or there are drivers that were not updated. To help you on this,
we recommend that you follow the steps listed on this link.
The steps provided in the link includes updating the network adapters and the network troubleshooter that may help to diagnose the issue.

"Can't connect to this network."


I just bought a wifi card for my windows 10 desktop (a tp-link archer t8e) and cannot connect to my network.

I have the wifi icon on the tray, I can get a list of available networks but after entering the wpa key for my network it just shows the message "Can't connect to this network."

Network diagnosis just suggested connecting to a wifi network (why didn't I think of that...), does anyone here have any clue as to what the problem could be?

UPDATE: Just noticed that the wifi adapter is being disabled briefly just after I enter the network password, no idea what's going on.

 

Printer visible on network but can't connect

Well I had done all of the suggested steps but in wrong order. I updated router firmware, but still couldn't see printer. When I then reinstalled the new driver I had downloaded, it located the printer and all is now running fine. How complex this can get!
