Windows 10: I want to change the email on my user account but I don't have access to my old email anymore

When I first set up my computer I used my old email, eventually, I made a new account and started regularly using that one, today I was looking up at the windows 10 account settings and I noticed I still have that old email associated to my account so I tried to change it to synchronize my account between my pc and laptop, the problem is I can't change it because I don't have access to that old email anymore,I still remember the password but apparently Microsoft detected unusual activity and asks me to verify my identity.


After trying to sign in I ended up in the account recovery page, I knew the information I could give was not nearly enough to verify my identity, remember this account is old, it was made when I was a kid, so I never sent any emails to anyone or purchased anything, on top of that some of the information I gave was fake, I gave a fake birth date, which I don't remember anymore, at the time I didn't even know what a ''postal code'' was so I gave a random one, which of course, I don't remember anymore, needless to say, the form was rejected.


I must clarify, I don't want to regain access to this old account, I don't need it, all I want is to replace this old outlook account with my current one on my windows 10 user account, but it doesn't seem possible without it.

So what I'm asking is if there's either a way to unlink the old account without accessing it or a way to verify my identity in some other way like directly contacting Microsoft, I know most likely it's not possible but I thought I'd ask anyway

It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.

Embarrassingly, everyone on my email list received spam originating from my account, which is Yahoo based. A scan with MSE found two trojans, a Java/Rowindal.A and a Downloader:Java/OpenStream.W.

Are these the source of my unwanted email traffic? Would someone opening this email be infected with the same problems? Could there be more dangerous underlying threats.

Hell, I have quite a few high dollar clients in my list. I always treat people's addresses like they were unlisted numbers, and don't send frivolous "Hey how are ya" junk. This is mortifying.*Eek!
