Windows 10: Installing Windows 10 Pro instead of Home

I purchased Windows 10 Pro directly from Microsoft. I downloaded and ran the Media Installation Tool. It did not give me an option to select Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro, it just had the option "Windows 10". I ran it from a computer that was already running Pro, and selected the checkbox that told it to "Select the best options for this computer", hoping that would put Pro on it. But sadly, it keeps installing Windows Home on my new computer instead of Pro. I then go to the Activation center on the new computer, and tell it I have a key to upgrade to Pro, enter the key I received when I purchased Pro, and it keeps erroring out. I am 100% sure I'm typing in the license key correctly.


Does anyone know how I can install Pro directly instead of Home? I really don't like this whole idea of doing an install, and THEN immediately an upgrade, that's so inefficient! And maybe the license key will work properly when I have the correct edition installed...


Edit to add: Clarification: I am putting the installer on a USB stick to install Windows on a 2nd computer.

Installed Windows Pro instead of Home

You need to boot from the install media in order to choose Home during setup. This means performing a clean install:

• How to: Perform a clean install of Windows 10

Setup will also prompt you to select the edition you have a license for - Home or Pro. Please make sure you choose the right edition. If you choose the wrong edition, your only option will be to perform
a clean install again.

The copy of Windows 10 you download and upgrade from will correspond with the edition of Windows you have installed, if it does not, this is why you might be experiencing problems activating:

• Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 8.0 Core, Windows 8.1 Core should install Windows 10 Home
  

• Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.0 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro should install Windows 10 Pro

 

Installed Windows Pro instead of Home

Hi, I accidently downloaded Windows 10 Pro instead of Home. My digital license only works on Windows 10 Home, so it is not letting me activate the operating system. I created a boot drive from my previous laptop and I am trying to install windows 10
Home on a new PC. How can I uninstall the "Pro" version and install the correct "Home" Version?

Windows 10 Home instead of Pro


Hi,

I'm having an issue trying to install Windows 10 PRO. Right now I have a 7 home version pre-installed, and I'm trying to install Windows 10 PRO with my OEM key.

When I download W10 form Microsoft website and create the bootable device, after starting the installation, the program automatically install the Home version instead of PRO.

I don't know how to make it install the PRO version. It doesn't even ask me during setup.

Do you know how I can make the Pro version installs instead of Home, maybe you have somewhere an ISO file with only the Pro version ?
