Windows 10: Why can't i use Nero or any other type of software to burn blu-ray disc?

Why can't i use Nero or any other type of software to burn blu-ray disc in Windows 10 home?

I have tried and tried and they don't seem to work anymore since my pc updated itself to the 2004 version. Worked fine in the 1809 or 1903 versions etc. And i am sorry if i got the version numbers wrong but this makes no sense. But i will say this. I did manage to get windows 10 home to burn to blu-ray disc on it's own with some help i saw on youtube. I did the following. So what you do is place a blank blu-ray disc in the drive. And windows 10 will ask you do you want to treat the disc as a flashdrive or a dvd so it can play in other devices. I know that sounds very strange to even say right lol. But it does, so you pick dvd Then it formats the blu-ray disc. So after it gets done, You select highlight ALL the files you want to burn. Then right click on your blu-ray drive alittle menu pops up and in that list you see where it says “Burn to disc” click on it and the process starts burning your info to a blank blu-ray disc. It took about 5 mins to burn 23 gbs on a blank disc. And when it gets done it will eject the disc like always And it should work in any blu-ray drive you have. Now, here is the part I don’t like. While that disc is still in your drive and if you right click on it you still see the option to format the disc. Will it format your disc? I don’t know I have been too scared to click on it to find out. Well anyway some one please help... and if you want to play blu-ray disc. The software i use for that is PowerDVD19. Works very well.

Can not burn DVDs but Blu Ray burning works

I have a Dell XPS 8100 and all of a sudden, I can not burn DVD's. I have two drives, the DVD burner that came with the computer and a Blu-Ray burner (LG) that I added. Neither will burn DVD's but I have no problems burning Blu-Rays. It's not the blanks because I tried two different brands and not the burning software because I tried Nero 2018 and ImgBurn. The error message from ImgBurn says write failed. Any suggestions?

 

Looking for Blu Ray BDXL Burning Software for W10

The compatability issue to be concerned with is not the Windows version, but whether the burning software is aware of optical media having >50 GB capacity. I second the suggestion to use Nero Burning ROM.

On the freeware side, CDBurnerXP should do, as well as Ashampoo BurningStudio Free (warning: adware).
