Windows 10: Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again.

I did a clean boot of my computer because certain things weren't working.


As soon as it restarted I was greeted with "Something happened and your PIN isnt available. Click to set up your PIN again."


However when I click "Set up my PIN," nothing happens. Sometimes the spinning blue circle shows up for a few seconds. Sometimes the message telling me I need to download an app in the store shows up, and I click 'yes', and nothing happens.


I've tried restarting my computer, unplugging it, shutting down, and I've tried the safe restart where I press Shift and Click restart > troubleshoot > advanced options > startup settings > restart > enable safe mode ive also tried enable safe mode with networking


I've gone as far as to try and completely reset the PC with both choosing which files I keep and deleting all files. It does the whole process and says its unable to complete the reset.


I've been at this for hours and I'm completely at a loss.

No, there's no "login with password",

I have a new PC with W10. I decided to use the PIN code, but now I get the message "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

When I click 'Set up my PIN' nothing, the same message reappears.

I looked up the issue on the internet and found that I should login using another sign-in option. However, there is no way to get to another option. The text above is all I see on the screen.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with setting up your PIN. I have something here for you that might help fix the problem.

You may try this steps:

Delete NGC folder and add a new PIN code

Go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC.

In NGC folder delete all the files. To do so you must be logged as Administrator.

delete the temp folder within the NGC folder

Now go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options.

Click Add a PIN and add a new PIN code for your account.

Now the PIN login should be working again.

Switch to local account and add a PIN code

Option 2:

try to switch to local account, and the add a PIN code. Here's how to do that:

Go to Settings > Accounts and locate your account.

Click Sign in with a Local Account instead.

Follow the instructions to set up a local account.

Sign out and sign in with your local account.

Now add a PIN code.

After you've added your PIN code you need to locate your account under the Accounts section in Settings.

Choose Sign in with a Microsoft Account instead.

That's it, PIN login should be working now for your account

or

Open Start, type: CMD

Right click CMD

Click Run as administrator

Type following command and press Enter key:

icacls C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc /T /Q /C /RESET

Close Command Prompt.

Setup your PIN again then check if issue is resolved.
