Windows 10: Windows does not restart after sleep

Since the last update a few weeks ago now I have had a very serious problem with Windows 10.


For years I have used the following command line in a bat file to engage Sleep mode from a Shortcut on the Desktop:


C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState 0,1,0


That works perfectly, except that after all updates Microsoft carelessly and stupidly resets the Hibernation Flag, and I have had to turn Hibernation off manually powercfg -h off.


However after the last update, Windows will not wake after a sleep command. It does return to the Desktop, BUT then just hangs with continuous disc activity and no response.


So what's wrong well lots of things are wrong with Windows, I know, as I have used it since 1984, release 1.04!. Better still how can we correct this stupid error?

Pc restart after exiting sleep mode

well if it works within 5min, sounds like it could be losing power

'restarts after exiting sleep mode' do you mean it acts like a fresh cold boot? or you see the windows logging off screens, then it restarts?

i never use sleep or hibernate, risk of losing the session & waste of hard drive space

 

After Windows 10 Anniversary Update Computer Not Sleeping

Does disabling the HID-Complaint Touch Screen driver resolves the issue? If yes, we suggest that you disable it and see if your device go into Sleep mode after a period of inactivity.

We also suggest to check if the settings of the Power Options of your device are set so that the device will go into Sleep mode after a period of time. You may follow the steps below to check is Sleep mode is enabled on your device:

• Press the Windows button + X, then click on
  Power Options.
• Click Change when the computer
  sleeps.
• Change the settings to your preferred settings.

Sleep function does not work after upgrade

We can see here that you upgraded your Windows 10 to version 1607 and after that, the computer will no longer sleep. There are several reasons why you are having this issue. Having said that, we will do some steps to isolate and fix this concern. Before
we proceed, what troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

We also suggest that you follow the steps below to run Power Troubleshooter:

• Click on Start menu.
• Type Troubleshooting.
• Choose Troubleshooting (Control Panel).
• On the left hand side, click on View all.
• Click on Power.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
• Once done, restart the computer.
