Can I clean my Local Disk C safely?

Please only to those of you who know very well

I want to delete my nearly full disk but since I know nothing about PCs, I am very afraid to do something wrong.

In the Internet it says everywhere that you should delete everything you don't need under "Disk Cleanup" and do the same under "Cleanup System Files" but how do I know what I still need and what is perhaps important for my PC because of programs and versions?

And something else important. for some games e.g. Minecraft and Medieval 2 I had to download several files, add ons, mods etc. because of online and also some other games I installed from the internet e.g.: Battle of Middle-earth

I want to prevent all this data from being deleted as well. How can I do that? There is the big problem what I had already often, if only one file is deleted or moved, the whole game doesn't work anymore and that's always a real challenge to find and repair the error

    :)

  2. Is it safe to transfer fies from local disk C to local disk D?

I wanted to transfer files from local disk C to local disk D to free up space on my local disk C. So is it safe to send files from one drive to another and will my PC work properly if I do this?

    Can't safely remove external disk

In reference to the steps of your suggestions:

    • The issue is specific to the particular disk and it started after I've used the disk to save the System image backup (created with the Control Panel > File History tool).
    • I didn't disable any windows Service. I'm just wondering if there is any to disable.
    • Safe boot with networking, or clean boot doesn't resolve the issue.

    Thank you.
