  1. Randomly Losing Storage on C Drive

Hi everyone. I've had this problem for several months at this point so I'm not sure when or if an update to Windows 10 introduced it. But basically, on my main drive (an ssd with about 10-12GB space at any given time), every so often, maybe a few times a month, I'll start getting low disk space warnings, and when I look in the file explorer it says I only have 100-200MB of storage left. Then, because I apparently DO only have that much space left, stuff like my browser and running programs become unresponsive and crash.

Then after maybe 10-15 minutes, the storage space returns to 9, 10, or however many gigabytes it actually is and I can use my computer normally again. Anyway, for anyone who might be able to help:

Why the hell is this happening? I haven't been downloading anything when this has happened, and while I sometimes have had hungry programs like Android Studio and Firefox running for days at a time when its happened (also it happens a lot during Zoom calls, whether or not that's a coincidence...), could that really be the cause? Also, Windows 10 Storage Sense is never any help - I delete like 20mb of temp files that weren't deleted already by CCleaner which doesn't so much as put a dent in my lack of storage. So all this leads me to believe this is an OS issue. So, what the fuck gives Michaelsoft??

    Please help.

  2. Hard Drive Storage

I have a 500Gb Hard Drive, running Windows 10 Pro version 1909. My c drive is nearly full, I have checked every area on the pc and nothing adds up to the 486Gb I'm supposed to have available. I have gone to Settings > System > Storage - it shows that 401Gb
is being taken up by Apps and features but when I click on this and show the list of installed apps with their sizes, I have added up the entire list and it comes to 25Gb total. It doesn't show what's eating up the rest of the 400Gb of space. I have deleted
everything I can and have only been able to free up 11Gb so far so my c drive is still showing red. At this point is the only other step to reload the pc, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be and how to fix?

    Thanks,

    Heather

    C: drive progressively loses space

    Hello,

My C: drive is progressively losing space the longer my computer is on. I am currently experiencing the worst example of it so far, which has prompted me to post this support request.

    • Three hours ago, I turned my computer on. C: had 32GB of free space.
    • Thirty minutes ago, I received a 'low disk space' warning. C: had been reduced to 0 bytes.
    • I moved 3.6GB of personal files to an external drive. After checking in 'This PC', however, C: showed just 2.2GB of free space.
    • At the time of writing, C: now has 1.3GB of space remaining. This will occasionally drop in increments of 50MB to 100MB. It will also sometimes stabilise for a short time before continuing to drop again.
The only programs I have used in the past three hours are Chrome, Firefox, Foxtel Go (a streaming application), and Media Player Classic. It does not seem to matter which applications I use - if I use any applications at all - for the space to continue disappearing. Malwarebytes has not discovered any threats, either, and nothing appears to be abnormal in Task Manager.

How can I figure out what is going on? Can anyone help, or suggest anything? This is incredibly frustrating and inconveniencing as you can imagine.

    Thank you in advance.

    Computer: Toshiba Satellite
    Processor: Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    Operating system: Windows 10 Pro
