Windows 10: Computer Entered Sleep State While Streaming

Based on another troubleshooting process (which concluded that Modern Standby was rubbish and I should only have Hibernate as an option), I have Sleep disabled.

When streaming a video, the laptop decided to timeout; as per the comment above, that means Hibernate for me.

I can't say for certain, but I don't think I even left it idle (i.e. I think I touched the touchpad a few times in the process). Regardless, I feel like it shouldn't be going to sleep while streaming. I'd normally expect to see that in the Advanced Power Options, but alas...




See the Event viewer log for this case. I was immediately able to start it up again, and none of the events before or after are related to timing out, so I didn't include those.

Computer Not Entering Sleep State

I just built a new computer. Everything is working well and there are very few programs installed. The computer does not enter into Sleep State. I have checked most of the usual (I think) causes and have not been able to correct the issue. Things I've
tried:

1. Verified Sleep mode is set in Power options (currently 5 min for monitor shut off, 10 min for sleep)

2. Checked multimedia playback setting is set to "allow computer to sleep".

3. Ran powercfg in powershell. (ran with several different options to identify programs or drivers that may be causing an issue.

4. Verified Windows, drivers and other software is fully updated

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

WIN10 WMP not resetting power state flags after streaming

I'm on win10 1903 and it appears I have the exact same problem that is detailed with win7 WMP where at the end of streaming the power state flags are not reset.

To explain, the PC sleeps perfectly after a reboot. Consistently for days on end. If I actually stream from WMP and then the stream ends the PC will never goto sleep. I have to manually reboot the PC to get sleep to work again.

This same problem was described
here on win7.

Has anyone got a way of fixing this in win10?

 

iTunes stops playing when the computer go to sleep

Sleep mode is designed to stop all actions on a computer as it puts the device to a low-power state. Since you want to continue using a program even while your computer is locked, we suggest turning off Sleep mode by following these steps:

• Click Start.
• Go to Settings.
• Click System.
• Choose Power & Sleep from the left pane.
• Under Sleep, choose Never.
