Windows 10: Printer won't work anymore.

First of all, I'd like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Microsoft's amazing coding crew for being able to force their way into my laptop despite my settings for "NO AUTOMATIC UPDATES" and disabling my print function.


The laptop is a simple HP15 Notebook - nothing fancy, and it serves two purposes. To check email and print the documents I receive from those emails. Oh, and I do a little surfing while waiting for clearances. The printer is a new Epson WorkForce W-110, allegedly Windows 10 compliant subservient - again, nothing exotic. When I plugged it in via the USB port, my previous, STABLE, copy of Windows 10 saw it, installed it, and off we went without any issues.


After Microsoft hacked into my laptop, the printer was set to "Use printer offline" for some inexplicable reason known only to the magi at Microsoft. There was no explanation given for this, and the many pages dedicated to correcting this phenomena started with deselecting that option. Did so, to no avail. Then began a 2.5 hour hunt for a reason and fix for the fact that not only could I not deselect the offline option, the laptop couldn't even see the printer attached to it any longer. Unloading it and removing the drivers, then trying to re-install it didn't work either, because the USB port has somehow been disabled from seeing the printer at all. The USB ports are all fine and reporting normal function, but I guess there's some bad blood between the Microsoft magi and the Epson people, because the printer is invisible.


I tried to restore the previous, properly working version of Windows 10 so that I could get my job done, but no. This wasn't allowed by the great minds at work at Microsoft. They have determined that this laptop is in fact THEIR property, not mine, and that they are free to dance around inside of it whenever they choose to do so.


If anyone has an antidote for this hex on my laptop, I'd appreciate it. If it requires sacrificing a chicken or something more substantial on the street, so be it. But I would appreciate the magic spell for correcting this issue in my unwanted, unsolicited update for a laptop that was working perfectly fine.


Thank you for your time, and I look forward to what must be an incredibly complex task ahead to get my laptop to see and work with my printer again. I've stocked up on supplies, informed relatives that I may be unavailable for an extended period of time, and have prepared myself for the mentally exhausting exercise ahead.

printer won't work on network but will over usb

his printer has a built-in print server.

What you need to know what ip is being give to the printer. Perhaps you can print a status sheet from the printer.

Then Go to printers in control panel

add a new printer

local printer attached, uncheck automatically detect and install PnP printer

create a new port, select standard tcp/ip port

a new window should open and enter the ip there where it says printer name or IP address (port name then should be also be filled as you go)

and pretty much follow the rest of the steps, you will need to install the printer drivers.


These steps is the easy, but not the right way.

The right way is to use the network option on the initial screw and search for the printer server...but that can be tricky to configure.

Printer isn´t working after latest update.

After the latest update from Windows, my Canon Pixma ip6600 printer isnt working. In Device Manager it shows up as working properly but when I go to print it isn´t listed as an option in any programs. Troubleshoot suggests it´s a USB 2 printer on a USB
3 port and that that´s the problem but that cant be since it worked fine before the update. I´ve tried to uninstall and plug it back in but that doesn´t work either.
