Windows 10: Lenovo IdeaPad C340IML trackpad not working straight out of the box.

i bought a new lenovo laptop, the ideapad c340, and right out of the box the trackpad just wasnt working. the first thing i did was check for software updates, as i thought maybe the drivers were outdated. after that was done the trackpad still wasnt working. i tried pressing f6 which im pretty sure enables/disables the trackpad, but it was still unresponsive. then i went to check the drivers in mouse properties, but the only thing i saw there was the hid compliant mouse, which i think is the external mouse as a usb mouse plugged in works fine. im really not sure what to do, i was thinking of returning it and getting a new one, but i thought itd be easier if someone here could help. thanks in advance

Hi, sounds odd.

- in what way- did you get an error message?

If you boot to your BIOS does the touchpad work then?
And in Safe Mode?

I would have suggested trying Lenovo System Update but it seems yours isn't supported by that. (Works nicely for mine).

What happens if you choose to remove the HID compliant mouse completely in Device Manager and reboot?

 

Lenovo S740 - Trackpad not working

Hi I'm in urgent need of my trackpad working because tomorrow is the day of a college exam which requires me to bring my laptop without a mouse.

I've just (3 hours ago) installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 1709 .

I've since used Windows Update to update to Windows 10 1909.

I thought Windows Update would provide the trackpad drivers but it didn't.

I've tried to download and install the provided trackpad drivers off the lenovo website but it didn't work. Here's the link to the download page for the drivers laptops and netbooks :: yoga series :: yoga s740 14iil - SG. But it didn't work also.

Things I've also tried:
"Scan for hardware changes" in device manager.
"Show hidden devices" in device manager.

Many online forum posts suggested to change a setting in my BIOS, but I couldn't find it.

How to disable gestures on my Ideapad L340 touchpad

So this seems to be a common issue.

This thread has some answers. One solution is to download older drivers and then force them in.

Also suggest a Cortana search which should be quick.

If using older driver works then you need to tell Windows to stop updating drivers. I can provide details once you have your trackpad settings.
