  1. Unable to log into MS account after clean install

My dell desktop was running very slow. I had previously purchased a 10 pro key and up graded from home to pro, no problems for months then because system was slow I decided to do a clean install. Every time I get to the part for logging in with MS Account it accepts my account details, although it is input in small boxes in top left of screen, and the asks who will be using this computer. I put in a local account and system runs fine, activated via digital license, but if I try to sin in using my MS account the window comes up wheel turns in window and then all disappears and I am not able to log into my account stuck with local account. The same if I try to log into EDGE or MS Store. I have checked in all settings that MS accounts are allowed and the activation of MS accounts is enabled, I have used msconfig to stop all services apart from MS and still the same. Used another media install, have tried a clean install to 10 home edition and same problem.

Any help please I have given up.

    :)

  2. Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Unable to log into MS account after clean install

MS account lockout. Unable to reset.

I am locked out of my MS account. All directions point to conventional reset help / support page requiring text verification code to reset. Problem is, I am in a rural locale (no cell service .. no texting) so unable to use that method. No other reset method appears to be available.

It is impossible to get help from MS so am VERY grateful to have found this support forum. Hope someone can help. (In any case) thanks (in advance) for suggestions.
