Explorer not launching right after logging into my account.

Hey guys, i have this problem where after i enter my code it loads and hen my screen just becomes black. I can press ctrl+shift+esc to open task manager but windows itself won't load until a long time. As I'm writing this, windows still hasn't loaded and I had to open chrome through finding the folder through task manager.
After windows loads, I can't launch my spotify or my windows mail app. But the rest works fine after.

If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Internet Explorer 11 freezes when launched on Windows 10

I would have preferred to post my findings to this thread but alas it's locked: How to reinstall/reset Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 10?

Issue: Internet Explorer does not launch properly in Windows 10. The application launches but mouse cursor never changes from "busy" and CPU utilization hits the roof. I have to terminate the process and am unable to run IE on Windows 10.

    Resolution:

    • Open File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer
    • First try running iediagcmd.exe in the Internet Explorer directory. You may need to right click and "Run As Administrator" for it to work properly. This is a built-in diagnostic tool that resolves common problems automatically.
    • Right click on C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and select "Run As Administrator".

For me, Step ③, possibly in conjunction with Step ②, resolved the problem.

I have lots of startup apps for things capturing the screen, launching apps, and setting system wide hotkeys. None of them work when run at startup anymore because Windows won't launch apps with admin rights at bootup, even if
you set the "Run as administrator" option in a shorcut. If I run the apps post-boot, after I've logged in and have admin credentials, then things work like they did in Windows 7.

I read that the solution to this may be using the built-in administrator account, that Windows does allow these to be launched as admin. But for the time being at least, I can run IE on Windows 10.

Allowing Local Standard Account Log On As Batch Job Rights

Hi das10 and thanks for the response.

This was my concern that there might be security implications.

So, this was what I did step by step to get to this point:

    1. created a task using the information from this link:
How to change the Windows Defender update frequency

    2. the task ran successfully but the command prompt window was open as mentioned

At this point the only change I made was to switch in the task from "Run only when user is logged on" to "Run whether user is logged on or not". It was at this time that I was asked for a password, received an error message about rights and batch jobs.

    3. I then logged in to the admin account and changed the setting in GPE based on the information here:
Log on as Batch Job Rights for Task Scheduler — danblee.com

I did not set "Run with highest privileges" either in the initial task or after changing the GPE setting.

The task runs as I wanted it to but as you pointed out there may be security implications.

This is a personal/work computer and nobody else has access to it (if that makes a difference).

Are you suggesting I undo the changes to GPE?

    Thanks!

Microsoft Updates Messed up my Yahoo email account

    Hi Trishe,

Some updates may include security, ease of access and new version of browsers.

We suggest you to save your password again for Internet Explorer, so it will not ask you every time you'll log in to your Yahoo! account. To do that, launch Internet Explorer, go to your Yahoo! account. Type in your user name and password, once logged in,
on the bottom part click Yes on the prompt "Would you like to store your password for yahoo.com?"

Also, if you don't want to associate your Yahoo! account to your Mail App, we suggest you to delete it instead. Follow the steps below:

    • Launch Mail App.
    • Click Settings.
    • Click Accounts.
    • Select the account you want to delete, select the Delete account option at the bottom, and click the Delete button to confirm.
Let us know how it goes.
