  1. Win10 tries to access network with every keystroke, why?

In Notepad, if I open a text file located on a network share drive, each character that I type causes notepad to use the network, or better still, if I just drag the notepad window around the desktop it uses network and slows the movement of the window. I am seeing the network activity in task manager. If I open a local file this doesn't happen...What gives?

Cannot access Win10 machine via local network

I am 'birthing' my first Win10 machine, OS V1809, and must have goofed something up...

All machines in my home belong to the same Workgroup and the users/passwords are consistent across all machines. From my Win7 desktop, I:
    • Can access my Win10 machine, via Explorer, using its IP address
    • Can ping the Win10 machine using both its name and IP address
    • Cannot access the Win10 machine, via Explorer, using its name

From the Win10 machine, I can see all other computers on the network and access all of them.

I do not believe that this is a firewall issue as the issue persists when the firewall is disabled. I do believe that network and file sharing is enabled (but, I could be wrong). The issue exists with both the Ethernet and WiFi connections, so it is probably not interface-specific.

Please suggest what I can do to resolve this issue. Thx.

  3. Lost network/internet access following kb3197954 update for win10

    Product Name: HP Pavilion P6310f

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The system was upgraded from win 7 to win10 a few months ago, and everything was fine. Win 10 forced an update on 11/6, and network/internet access has not worked since. I tried a different network cable just in case, and no luck. I have attempted to
find a win 10 driver for the listed network adapter, Realtech RTL8201N, but have not been able to find one. The troubleshooting utility states "There might be a problem with the driver for the ethernet adapter". The detailed report states "The wired network
adapter is experiencing problems". I tried installing a Realtech Win10 driver that was listed for several adapters, but not the specific one mentioned above, and no luck. I have also tried installing the older win7 driver, and no luck. Earlier, I uninstalled
the update, and no luck. The mother board listed in the HP specs is M2N78-LA (Violet6), and, and the network adapter is on the board. Suggestions?

Win10 tries to access network with every keystroke, why?

One computer cannot access other network computers.

So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?
