  1. Problem with picture profile videos in the Photos app

So when I want to open videos out of my photos gallery that were shot in a picture profile like HLG Hybrid Log Gamma, the colors and the brightness are messed up: The video is way too bright and the colors are completely over saturated. When I open the video with vlc or other players, everything looks like it should. Is there any bug fix?

I like the overall look of the photos app and how everything is organized. But if any developer reads this: Can you guys maybe look for this problem. I also attached two photos. The first one is how the video is displayed in the photos app and the other one is how every other app is showing me the video.

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done Problem with picture profile videos in the Photos app :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

  3. Windows Photos Export Video Project Problem

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the difficulties you are facing with the Photos App, while exporting video project. We were able to create and export the video project. So the issue could be with photos app installed in the PC. I would suggest you
to follow the steps mentioned in these methods.

Method 1: Please refer the steps as mentioned in

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store
    article.

Method 2: You can also try to re-install the app using PowerShell. Here are steps to re-install photos app:

    1. Open PowerShell (Admin). Right click on the start button and then on PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Then type: get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
    3. Once the above command is successful. You can install the Photo app from Microsoft Store.

    We await your response.

  4. Problem with picture profile videos in the Photos app

Why do my photos show up in the microsoft app but not in my pictures folder?

    Hi Cindy,

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with Windows 10. I will certainly help you.

This issue might occur if there is change in photo app settings.

To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

    • When you say that "microsoft app", are you referring to photos app?
    • Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to check the source file for photos app and also copy the picture from external device.

Step 1: I recommend you check the source file settings in the photos app settings and check if it helps.

    1. Click on Search bar.

    2. Then type "Photos" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

    3. Click on Settings on the bottom left corner of the Photos app.

    4. Then check if under Sources, pictures directory is present or not.

Step 2: I suggest you to directly copy and paste the picture from the external device into the computer.

Please get back to us with an update on issue displaying pictures imported in the photos app into picture folder, we will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
