Windows 10: Turning on Windows Defender after using O&O ShutUp10

Hello,

I used to use Avast as my antivirus, but got tired of it so I wanted to go back to using Windows Defender. I had disabled Defender using O&O ShutUp10 to avoid conflicts between the two. Alongside an antivirus software I use Malwarebytes.

I uninstalled Avast using its uninstall utility: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Afterwards, I enabled Defender again in O&O ShutUp10 and restarted my pc. Unfortunately, Defender is still turned off: https://i.imgur.com/Vc8jIUd.png

I searched around and eventually found 2 posts that said to use a bat script to turn Defender again, as found here: https://superuser.com/questions/1211330/how-to-turn-defender-back-on-after-using-oo-shutup

This did work for a few minutes after restarting, as all the options for real-time protection, cloud-based protection etc showed up and could be turned off or on. After a few minutes however, it went back to the screen as shown earlier, with Defender turned off.

So my question is, how can I turn Defender on permanently? Thanks in advance.

O&O Shutup10

I have been using O&O ShutUp for quite few years. With only recommended settings,✔, plus 3 Limited orange triangle.
Never had any problems, though to be safe I disable it when installing major Windows Updates and new windows version installation. Then enable it after set as I like.

Slightly OT from the security angle, but O&O does a really good job of keeping Cortana locked in the dungeon!

Hmmmm... maybe that is security related. *chuckle
