  1. Simple Notification

Pretense: I have a server that i do almost all operations on via RDP so i don't need to use multiple keyboards/mice. Sure initial setup is done with dedicated monitor and peripherals, but i'd like to not have to shimmy into the server space to operate that everytime i want to encode videos or sort out what has failed now. (Side-note: Since switching to Windows 10 Pro from 2012 R2 Datacenter i haven't had nearly as many crashes)

That said, in order to tell if the system is active i need to do 1 of either: RDP to it, or try to access a mapped drive from it. If its down and i fail to check before starting up OBS and try recording, then its more often than not that i don't even notice the notification: "Could not access storage location"

So i just recently thought, if the "Recycle Bin" can change icon based on the status of files marked for recycling, can't we have some sort of icon on desktop to notify whether or not the server is online? Would this be something simple or something hard? I thought maybe just Shortcut to something from Desktop, but that'd be a static icon even if the connection was lost.

What i want is a Greed light for online and when offline its Red, kinda like how the "Recycle Bin" is empty when nothing marked, and full when something is marked.

I tried googling for this, but not knowing what to call it, i just got a bunch of "my network connections icon is gone, how to fix?" results.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

Follow these steps to check if it works:

Step 1: Open the Windows Settings menu by pressing the Windows Key and “I,” or alternatively search for Settings in the Windows search bar and click the corresponding result.

Step 2: Click Notifications & Actions in the left-hand menu. This will take you to a screen providing access to all of the settings related to notifications and the Action Center.

Step 3: Click the System icon, then select Notifications and actions from the left-hand menu.

Step 4: Look for the Notifications subheading, where you will see a number of toggles for various types of notifications. The following is a list of the settings you can toggle on this screen:

    • Get notifications from apps and other senders
    • Show notifications on the lock screen
    • Show alarms, reminders, and incoming VoIP calls on the lock screen
    • Hide notifications when duplicating my screen
    • Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows
You may just turn them off the notification as you need.
