    I'm getting this error repeatedly after starting my laptop: "USB device not recognized" even though no external device is connected to it. All the usb ports are working properly even if the error is being shown. I have tried updating the drivers in Device Manager but it didn't work.

    The error stops when I disable or uninstall "IntelR USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 Microsoft" which is under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". But all the USB ports stop working when I do this.

    I have even tried restoring the laptop to a restore point before the error started showing up but again it didn't work.

    Is there any other way to solve this?

    Will factory reset help?

    Could it be a hardware damage rather than a software problem? Some water spilled on the laptop a day or two before the error started showing up

    I am facing a problem. Even if I plug in my pen drive into my computer, then my computer is not reading it. I am getting the error message "USB device not recognized"?
