Windows 10: no sound on dvd

I personally have a big disability need help understaning and body disablitity need help hearing dvd

Please answer the following questions

1. Did you try using a different dvd?

2. Were you able to play dvds in windows 8.1?

3. Do you get any error message?

I would suggest you to please make sure that you have installed all latest driver for Network and DVD.

I would suggest you to follow these methods and check.

Method 1: Run the Hardware troubleshooter

• 
  Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes in search and click on
  Troubleshooting in the results displayed on the left side of the screen.
  
• 
  In the new window, click
  Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  In the list of options, click on
  Hardware and Devices.
  
• 
  Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
  

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall CD/DVD driver:

Uninstall the cd/dvd drivers and then try installing the drivers in Windows 10 compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Step 1: Uninstall the cd/dvd driver from Device Manager

Follow the steps to uninstall the cd/dvd driver:

a. Press Windows Key + X and then click Device Manger.

b. Search for the cd/dvd driver and expand it.

c. Right click the driver and click uninstall.

d. Follow the prompt and restart the computer.

Step 2: Install the driver in Windows 10 compatibility mode

Download the updated diver from manufacturer’s website and reinstall it.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

a. Right click the driver installation file and select Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.

b. Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.

c. Tap or click the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click OK.

d. Try installing the driver and check.

Windows 10 dvd/cdplayer not connecting to sound

  When you say ‘’dvd/cd player’’ are you using the DVD app or other third party DVD player?
  
• 
  What is the make and model of the computer?
  

Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue.

Method 1.

I would suggest you to run sound audio troubleshooter, it will automatically detect the problem and fix it. Follow the below method.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on View by: category and click on
  Small icon.
  
• 
  Now click on troubleshooting and click on
  Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Click on Playing Audio and Click on Next button.
  

Method 2.

Step 1.

I suggest you to uninstall/reinstall the sound adapter driver and check.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Now click on Sound, video and game controllers
  to expand, right click on the device and click on uninstall.
  
• 
  Once you are done installing the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the sound adapter driver.
  

If the still persist, try the below steps.

Step 2.

I suggest you to update the audio driver and check.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Device manager.
  
• Now click on Sound, video and game controllers and right click on it and
  update the software.

If the above methods did not help to fix the issue, try the below method.

Method 3.

I recommend you to go to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest updated sound adapter driver for Windows 10 and install the same. If the available driver is not for Windows 10 try installing the driver in compatibility
mode.

  Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

  Select Compatibility tab.
  
• 
  Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.
  
• 
  Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

DVD and Sound

Thanks for the reply. It worked in Windows 8 but I checked in 8.1 a few days ago and it did not. I have tried different dvds. No error message, just no options
