  1. Windows 10 won't install to my SSD's partition.

Hey all, I'm real inexperienced with tech stuff but I'm trying to install Windows 10 on my PC's new internal drive (using USB installation media) and ran into a snag. I've formatted the drive (a Samsung 860 EVO) for GPT and NTFS, but when I click the primary partition in Windows Setup I get the following error message:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.

Really confused by this message because I thought GPT was the right style for Windows 10. I've tried reformatting a couple of times and I keep getting similar messages.

The other weird thing is yesterday I started getting a different error:

We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files.

Today when I went back to check it the error had switched back to the first one above. I didn't do anything to the drive in that time.

I've tried reformatting in Windows Setup, I've tried taking the drive out of the PC and reformatting it from my laptop, I've tried reformatting with diskpart commands (which only reformatted into MBR for some reason). Nothing seems to work for Windows to actually install to the drive. The only other partition on the drive is MSR, which also won't allow Windows installation.

Do I need to create another partition within the drive? Any other fixes available? Thanks!

Edit: I know there's a rule about technical questions going to r/techsupport but I posted in there yesterday about this and haven't gotten any replies. Trying it here.

Partition SSD during windows 10 install

I'm assembling a new PC and running a fresh windows 10 install. I'd like to know how to partition the ssd into 2 separate partitions during the windows install (I'm using a bootable usb drive to install Windows).

I want to know if I need to input specific settings for those partitions or if it's all automatic?

I need one partition for Windows on and another for my documents. The ssd has 960gb size.

So I'm guessing it has about 60gb over-provisionning. I could leave out a bit more, but it probably doesn't matter that much

Partition SSD during windows 10 install

During the Windows 10 install you will have the option to Format the drive. Once you do that, you can click the 'New" button with the drive selected and create a new partition on the SSD. And then format it is it requires it. Which I think it does. It's been a little while since I've done it.
    google is your friend too.
