Windows 10: Windows 2020-Sep - update - My downloads showing empty - start-menu is not refreshed - Apps...

Hi Team,


After the windows 2020-September update, facing below issues. Please help to check and let me know.


1. I am not able to see any files in downloads. It always shows empty after I restart my system. Everytime I am manually going to c:\users:\<username> and working on the documents

2. My start-menu always shows the fixed set of apps. If I add some apps to desktop, they are reset after every restart

3. Apps that I have installed after the update is asking again and again to install the same after every restart

4. Google Chrome all are reset once system if restarted


To summarize, all my activities after update is reset after every restart.

How to show MOST USED apps in Start Menu?

This issue could have occurred due to incorrect Start settings.

I suggest you to try the following steps which will help to show most used apps in Start Menu. Check if it helps.

• 
  Click on Start Button and click on
  Settings.
  
• 
  Double-click Personalization.
  
• 
  In the left pane click on Start.
  
• 
  In the right pane check if the “Show most used apps” slider is
  turned on or not.
  
• 
  If not move the slider to
  turn it on.
  
• 
  Now check in Start Menu, if it shows most used apps.

Applications still showing on Start menu after powershell deletion


Hi,

I've used powershell to remove some apps (like Xbox games).

On one account, it cleaned up the start menu just fine.

Second account, they were showing on the start menu, so I ran powershell again and verified everything was gone that I wanted, but Xbox is still showing on the menu list. *Not* as a tile, but in the "All Apps" list. I have also tried looking at the Start Menu in File Explorer for that User and can not see the App listed.

Suggestions?

Add or Remove Items for All Apps in Start menu in Windows 10

My caffeine titer is low, so I must be missing some blatant, basic step to add a shortcut to my account's All Apps list in the Start menu (Option1).
The new process both for creating shortcuts and for adding/removing items to the Win10 start menu has me flummoxed.
Your tutorials are always "topnotch", so this must be a cockpit error on my part.

I have d/l the wushowhide.diagcab and saved it to my downloads folder.
I have done Step 1 on Page 1 of THIS tutorial to navigate to the Start Menu Programs folder.
But HOW do I actually complete Step 3 to create a shortcut and then add it to the Start Menu "All Apps"??

I think I need to first somehow create a shortcut for the .cab file and then add it to All Apps in the start menu???

Please advise.

P.S. I have been postponing the probably inevitable installation of Class Shell.
I would rather not have to install a 3rd-party program to be able to perform basic Windows tasks.
But this new workflow in Win10 for a basic functionality might force me to do it.
Sigh.
