Windows 10: Deleting a birthday from Windows 10 calendar app

Hello,


It has taken me over 30 minutes to delete 1 birthday from the Windows 10 calendar app. Because of the amounts of conflicting information and the especially bad user experience design of the app. The problem is that the Windows 10 calendar app does not give any option to delete a birthday from the so called 'Birthday calendar'.

It is also very unclear on where the birthdays in this calendar come from, this is something I will look into because I think it is scraping data from places it shouldn't. That is a separate problem though.


For anyone looking to delete a birthday from the calendar, here is the way to do it:

Go to: https://calendar.live.com or https://outlook.live.com/calendar

From there you can just click on the event to delete it.


No there is no way to do this from within the Windows calendar app, yes this is ridiculous, yes this makes the calendar app even more useless than it already was. Just like most of the apps in windows which you can't delete.


Great user experience, make an app to do something so you don't have to open a browser. Then not add features to the app so you still have to open a browser and even worse, don't mention this anywhere.


Please fix this Microsoft, or please just stop adding all these useless apps to Windows. We don't want them, we never wanted them. They slow our systems down AND don't work...

To delete any birthday/event in the Calendar App, follow the steps provided below:

• Open the Calendar App.
• Click on the Birthday event which is created for the particular day.
• A dialog box will open.
• In the top pane, click on Delete.

This is still an issue. I've freed myself from the woes of Facebook by disabling my account. Unfortunately, the birthday entries are there. Attempting all of the steps within this thread are pointless as:

• there's no right clicking of the birthday event to delete it
• editing the series only shows "Save and close" but no delete
• there are no accounts associated to the calendar app to remove
• the troubleshooting app believes Windows is perfect and offers no options
• it's impossible to uninstall Mail and Calendar manually to try again

Give us some registry keys to delete to fix this.

It would be nice to use the apps Microsoft presents if they work...
