  1. Media Disconnected & Missing Drivers

Currently, I am using my HP laptop with the most updated version of Windows 10. I have been having internet issues with blank pages, waiting for websites, and timing out of connections. I had decided to pull up my IP Configuration and noticed 4 separate network drivers with media disabled. The first problem is with the drivers I currently have. With my Realtek Wi-Fi adapter Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter and Family Controller Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller my media state says "Media Disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix" for both of them. My computer says they are perfectly fine, updated, and have no rollback option and they are "running properly". I have flushed the DNS, released/renewed addresses, reset my WINSOCK, TCP, and IP Stacks, scanned for viruses, sfc scannow, online health cleanup, reset the router, run the troubleshooter, ran network reset, and checked for hardware changes which all yielded negative results after restarting the computer. I want to physically remove the drives and replace them if there are no other options. Then I am missing both of my Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapters. I have not physically removed them from my computer but my IP Configuration says they are disconnected and they are not among my drivers. I searched through Windows and restarted to see if they would install but no luck. I don't know where to install these from either. I have entered my product into the manufacture website but they give me a completely different set of drivers and I would have to uninstall all my drivers cause of compatibility issues with the manufacture ones. All of my network drivers are Microsoft and Realtek. I can supply additional information if needed.

    :)

wireless driver - media disconnected problem - I think!

    Hi,

For the last week I have not been able to get wireless access to my pc. I have intel centrino wireless adapter and this and the microsoft wifi direct virtual adapter keep showing 'media disconnected'

I have updated the intel driver - I initially lost the 'media disconnected' but still couldn't connect wirelessly but now I'm back to the 'media disconnected' message.

I've tried various suggested solutions without success.

Initially the troubleshooter gave 'missing protocol' message now it's given up and says it can't identify the problem.

Any suggestions would be very welcome and I'm getting very frustrated and have wasted a lot of hours trying to sort it. It's a pain having to use the ethernet cable all the time (that works fine).

    Thanks

    Alison

IPCONFIG /ALL reveals Media State = Media Disconnected for many users

    It is perfectly clear.

Look at my screen shot. The "Ethernet adaptor Local Area Connedtion" doesn't say media disconnected.

That is because there is a cable connected to that connection. That is where my internet and network is coming from. Because that connection doesn't say media disconnected, I have network access and internet access. If I unplug the network cable from my machine, and run it again, it changes to media disconnected.

When you add the /all switch to ipconfig, it shows you every network connection.

The isatap and tunnelling connections that it lists are NOT releated to your ISP. They are actually virtual connections created to handle sending IPv6 packets over a private IPv4 network. It only really applies to very specific conditions, and for the most part will always say media disconnected. You should ignore these, as they have nothing to do with if you are actually connected to a network or the Internet.
