Windows 10: Battery Light - Blinking Orange 1 sec On/1 sec Off Battery @ 100% Fully Charged Laptop...

Good day!


Battery light is blinking orange 1 sec on/1 sec off and as per the battery notif in the taskbar it is currently at 100% fully charged but when I unplug the ac it automatically shuts down. The laptop will not turn on unless it is connected to the ac. Laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-473, OS Windows 10 Home.


TS done:

Pushed the battery reset ? at the back of laptop for 5secs and waited 15mins before plugging it in and turned it on = same issue.

Device manager > batteries > update drivers for both MS Adapter and ACPI > The best drivers are already installed message

Command prompt admin > battery report >results below:

Also for suggestions to uninstall battery drivers, I am hesitant to do so because usually the instructions are to remove the battery after and mine is not removable so I'm afraid it will not install back and cause more issues.


Does this mean the battery laptop is dead and needs replacement? If it is, because of COVID restrictions in my area I will be unable to get a replacement asap so will my laptop burn out if I connect it to the ac for now? I'm scared if it's a fire hazard to keep it plugged in while the battery is whatever it is.


Also FYI I had a previous issue with my ac cord a few months back, it sometimes will not charge/charge depending on the position of the cord near the charging port in the laptop. Is there a possibility the cord is the problem again?

Battery Won't Charge Fully

Make sure to install all Windows important updates.

Install latest versions of your laptop device drivers you can download the latest device drivers from the device manufacturer or from your laptop manufacturer website.


Step 1

1. Shutdown your laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect the AC power adapter to your laptop.

4. Power on the laptop

5. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu or from Control Panel.

6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).





7. Shutdown the laptop.

8. Insert the battery.

9. Power on the laptop.

If above suggestions wont resolve the battery charge issue then follow below steps.




Step 2

1. Shutdown the laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Start the laptop with only AC adapter connected to laptop.

4. When you login to Windows OS connect the battery while Windows OS working.





Step 3

Reset the System Management Controller. Use one of these methods to reset the SMC, which controls battery management, battery status light.

1. Shut down the computer and disconnect the power cord.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds.

4. Reattach the battery and AC power adapter, then start up the laptop.


Hopefully one of the above suggestions will help you resolve the battery not charging problem. If battery still doesn't charge, you may need to replace your battery.

 

Battery Won't Charge Fully

The manual says blinking orange means the laptop is running on battery mode and the battery is less than 10%.

I shut it down, pulled out the cord, then tried to hold the power button for 10 seconds but the laptop shut down before those 10 seconds. I inserted the cord and tried again with the same results. I started normally and the blinking light stopped. The battery is at 74% and charging but I suspect it won't charge fully.

I'll try a calibration then battery removal. I've been hesitant about removing the battery because it seems a bit tricky from the tutorial I watched.
