  1. Screen colors darken when charging laptop, can't find the adaptive brightness setting anywhere

    Hello,

I've been having this problem with my laptop where everytime I start to charge it, every color becomes a bit darker (Like the light blue color when text is selected changes to a darker hue). I have looked at other previous forums and they talk about Intel's graphics and adaptive display brightness, I've even gone into regedit and tried to screw with the settings there. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what might be causing this, please let me know!

  2. screen brightness on windows 10

    Hi,

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

    • Click Start, then select Settings.
    • Choose System, then select Display.
    • Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Feel free to post back if you have other concern.

  3. Laptop Screen Auto-Darkens When Fewer Pixels Display Brighter Colors

This problem is hard to explain, but I'll do my best.

At any time, regardless of my power settings or my battery condition - or if I have a battery installed at all - my screen will automatically darken itself if the screen is primarily displaying darker colours, and it's method of darkening the screen does NOT
use system screen settings (IE: I it doesn't use adaptive screen darkening [the setting isn't enabled], nor does it use the brightness setting [the brightness is at 100%, meaning I can't actually adjust it when the screen darkens]).

    For example:

I use Netflix and Adobe Illustrator together quite often. I have Netflix occupying about one-fourth to one-third of the screen, and Illustrator, the other portion. If the total luminal output of the screen drops below some arbitrary and unknown quantity (the
screenshot below would trigger it), the screen will slowly begin darkening itself over the course of about 5 seconds.

AN EXAMPLE SCREENSHOT WHAT WOULD MAKE MY SCREEN DARKEN

This is extremely obnoxious, especially when I'm working - like in the above screenshot, which was taken after the screen darkened itself - with colours that are NEAR black.

As seen above, the darkening effect doesn't affect the actual colours being rendered.

I've gone through all the system and driver settings for power management, graphics and the display, including screen calibration, and I can't find any sort of reasoning behind the way the screen behaves.

This problem has persisted on this machine since Windows 7 (I'm now using Windows 10, obviously), and I've never been able to fix it permanently. I usually work around this by keeping the screen mostly bright, and it hasn't been a big enough problem in
the past to really pursue, but I'm tired of it.

I'm using a 2011 ThinkPad T520. My graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 3000 running driver version 9.17.19.4229, and it's mode is set to "1920 by 1080, True Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz." My power manager is "Lenovo Power Manager 6 (2012)."

I don't mind if a proposed solution requires uninstalling proprietary or possibly unnecessary software or drivers, and I'm comfortable running Command Prompt.

  4. Screen colors darken when charging laptop, can't find the adaptive brightness setting anywhere

how can we adjust screen brightness?

As we don`t know what you are using.

Is this a laptop screen or a monitor and what is it ( Make / Model / Brand ) ???

    • A monitor will have its own function keys to adjust brightness and contrasts.
    • A laptop will have Fn Function Keys to do this.
One could also use the Windows 7 inbuilt Color Calibration tool.

    • Go to the Start Menu.
    • Type in : calibrate display color.
    • A drop down menu will appear.
    • Select and open calibrate display color.
    • Follow the steps it provides.
Graphics Cards can have their own functions for this within their control panel as well.
