Windows 10: Recent Windows 10 taskbar behavior change for Outlook late Sept 2020

2020-09-22 My Outlook 365 taskbar behavior has changed in the last couple of days.


It no longer shows that it Outlook is open when minimized to the taskbar.


As I always keep mail and calendar tasks open but normally minimized this is very inconvenient. I can no longer go to the taskbar and open my calendar, without have to cycle through opening outlook mail and switching to calendar. Nor is calendar available without the outlook "dance" when working on emails will needing to reference the calendar.


After checking settings and restarting I do not understand how this happened. My main concern is this is a new feature, that would be bad. My hope is this is some obscure setting that someone might tell me how to correct. As a fallback I will try to repair Outlook and hope my settings survive.


Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Are you using Outlook 365 desktop client or Outlook Web App?

What taskbar list are you referring, is it Windows 10 Task View?
Could you provide screenshot here where do you want to see recently opened email?

Although, there is no taskbar list in Outlook 365 desktop and Outlook Web app client to check recent opened email.

If you are referring to Windows 10 Task View, should contact Windows 10 support rather than Outlook.

Outlook 365 not working after Windows 10 Sept 15 2020 forced update.

After routinely shutting my computer down on Sept 15 2020, Windows 10 installed a large forced update. Since then, Microsoft Outlook 365 does not work. I have restarted the computer and Outlook a couple of times, checked forums, and disabled add-ins,
but I still cannot use Outlook. Can anyone recommend a solution?

 

Taskbar recents

Curiously, this behavior ended spontaneously on one of the machines!

Now on this machine the Recents switch turns lists on & off on the Taskbar plus it deletes the lists when toggled off. However, Recents do
not show up on the Start menu.
