Calibre Server Accessible Locally but not Remotely

    I'm running Windows 10 Pro version 2004

So if I type my localipCalibre Server Accessible Locally but not Remotely :port in my browser Calibre pops right up on my network.....but when testing my ISPipCalibre Server Accessible Locally but not Remotely :port in browser, it just says my computer "Refused to connect".

I tried 2 different ports, both the default and then one I made up. I forwarded both ports Inbound and Outbound in UDP and TCP as well. I forwarded Calibre.exe and Calibre-server.exe both in the Inbound and Outbound connections. Also I forwarded the port in my comcast router.

What am I missing here, why isn't my remote request going through?

Also, I recently followed a Windows 2004 version guide to disabling unwanted stuff to make your computer run faster such as disabling programs from accessing your File System etc, etc, etc. So is it something in windows that I need to change to allow windows itself to allow the access to my Calibre server?

UPDATE: So apparently the problem I was having was that I was testing the remote URL on my home network. When I tested the URL on my phone using my mobile data connection, it worked. If anyone would like to explain why I wouldn't be be able to access my own ISP IP address from within itself I'd be appreciative for that clarification going forward.

    :)

  2. Remote access to my (local) server's folders

I am running a simple local fileserver. Windows based.

I would like to access (load, save, modify) what's on this server when I am away on business trips. Laptop -- internet -- router - server

What is the best way to do this? Setup WebDAV or ftp-server or something else? I would prefer direct access, ie. being able to load/save from an application rather than using ftp as a separate step.

Remote access to my (local) server's folders

But what if he tries to access this mapped drive when he is not on the same subnet of his server ?

Calibre Server Accessible Locally but not Remotely

Remote access to my (local) server's folders

    • Set up an FTP server on your file server.
    • Map the FTP server as a network location on your laptop under "Computer".
This will allow programs to open and save files directly to the FTP server just like it was a drive in your computer.
