    "Your battery needs replaced"

My aunt (in-law) sent me her laptop because a computer retail store with computer repair services told her the battery needed replaced. I don't know if they specified a part number for her to order or not but she ordered a new main power battery and then went round and round with the store trying to get them to install it. She got frustrated with them and sent it to me to replace it. So, I finally get the back cover off (after 1/2 hour of struggling before I realized there were screws under the rubber feet.) Replace the main power battery, get it all put back together and fire it up. First thing I see is a POST screen that said something about CMOS reset, blah, blah, blah. Then I immediately realized the real situation.

Of course, it wasn't the main power battery that needed replaced. It was the $7 RTC (CMOS) battery that really needed replaced *Mad. So I have one of those coming from ebay and now will have to get that dang back cover off again and replace it. Just posting this as a warning to others.

    :)

  3. Plugged in but battery does not charge
