Windows 10: Unable to download and install Minecraft for Windows 10 - Starter Edition

I bought Minecraft for Windows 10 - Starter Edition game through the Microsoft store.

I go to 'help' and am told this:

Windows 10

1. Go to order history, find Windows 10 , then select Product key/Install.
2. Select Copy to copy the key, then select Install.
3. Select Download tool now, and follow the instructions.
4. A wizard will help you through the steps to install. You can install Windows 10 on a PC or a Mac.
   

There IS NO "Windows 10" OR PRoduct key/install. This doesn't make sense - I want to download Minecraft not the OS.

When I click on INstall/play in my purchase window, it takes me to the microsoft store where it says I have to buy it again. Yes, I am signed into my account.

I've also tried clicking "install on my devices" but then says I don't have any registered devices, even though I AM SIGNED IN on my computer through Microsoft already.

• When you say, “when I click "Install/Play" nothing happens” which Install/play button are you referring?
  
• From where did you purchase Minecraft Starter Edition?
  
• For which platform have you purchased the game i.e. for Windows 10 or Xbox?
  

If you have purchased the game from Microsoft Store for Windows 10, you can download the game from Microsoft Store. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + S, and type
   Microsoft Store.
   
2. Double click on the Store Icon to open it.
   
3. Sign in with the same Microsoft account through which you have made the purchase.
   
4. Click on Search bar on the top right corner and search for
   Minecraft Starter Edition.
   
5. Click on Install button to install the game. Once the game is installed, you will find the option to launch it. Click on
   Launch to launch the game.

Minecraft Windows 10 starter edition Installation Freeze

So basically my mother bought be the starter edition of Minecraft windows 10

And when i click install The Microsoft store freezes and then afterwards it just closes

I understand your query related to installing Minecraft Starter Collection on your PC.

Based on my research, we have two different editions of Minecraft Starter Collection, one is for Windows 10 and the other one is for Xbox. You can refer the screenshots below.

1. Minecraft Starter Collection for Windows 10.





2. Minecraft Starter Collection for Xbox.





As per the information that you have shared, there are chances that you might have purchased Minecraft Starter Collection for Xbox and that might be the reason you are being asked to select a device.

One of the things that you can do is to get in touch with our
Microsoft Store support team and get a refund for the purchase made.

However, if you have purchased the correct edition of Minecraft for PC then you can follow the suggestions mentioned below and see if that helps.

Method 1:

Try resetting the Store and see if that helps.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run’.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type ‘wsreset.exe’ and hit
   Enter.
   

Note: A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close and Microsoft Store will open automatically.

Method 2:

Run the Store App troubleshooter to identify and fix problems.

1. Press Windows + I key together to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Update &
   Security and then click on Troubleshoot.
   
3. On the right hand pane scroll down and look for
   Windows Store Apps.
   
4. Click on it and select Run
   the troubleshooter.
   
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
   

Method 3:

Run the PowerShell command to re-register store.

1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on
   Windows PowerShell (Admin).
   
2. Now type in the command and hit Enter:
   Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\\AppXManifest.xml”}
   
3. Restart the PC.
