Windows 10: Windows 10 1909 & 2004 Installed Themes Not Showing in Themes

Hello everyone,

I have been troubled with this problem starting sometime during Win 10 1909. All of a sudden, when I downloaded a new theme, the store showed that it was installed, but it did not show in the Themes under settings. I did not find a solution so using various posts and some searching through the registry I found a solution that fit my problem and hopefully yours too.

First, theme files are stored in three places, that I can find:

1. - C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

2. - C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Packages

3. - C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes

The downloaded themes files showed up in #1 and #2, but not #3. What I found was I did not have permission to #1. I had to select the security tab and see that the system did not know who the owner was. So I changed the owner to me and selected it to propagate to subfolders. Looking at one of the themes I downloaded, I opened the Theme folder and found the [themename].deskthemepack file. I double-clicked it and it installed the theme and set it as the current theme. It showed up in Themes. I reasoned that this file had to execute in order to complete the installation and the system did not have permission to run it. So I downloaded another theme and it indeed worked as it should have - installed it but not set it as current unless selected.

Windows themes?

Hey guys, where can I find windows themes? I typed in "windows themes" in google and they were... not really good :shadedshu . Which themes are you guys using right now? Is there a theme that shows the weather and has the periodic table (my friend's powerbook has the periodic table on it!!)

 

Win-10 themes keep changing

• Did you try the steps suggested by Suvarna Govinda above, what was the result?

As I understand the issue, Themes in Windows doesn't have the options to change on its own. Only the Wallpapers in the themes can change as selected ( Picture, Solid color and Slide Show ).

I would suggest you to make us understand that if the Wallpapers are changing in Theme which you have selected.

Below are the steps you can check if it helps.

• Press Windows + I keys and select Personalization.
• Select Theme and select the Default theme.
• Select the Desktop Background below and select the Picture
  and save it and check.

What error do you receive while trying to download themes?

I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps:

          Right click on the desktop screen and select
          Personalize.
          
        • 
          Select themes from the left side of the page.
          
        • 
          Next select Themes settings.
          
        • 
          Select Get more Themes online.
