Windows 10: Trackpad not working after login or when laptop wakes up from sleep.

Many a times, my laptop trackpad and even my external mouse is not responsive just after login or when it wakes up from sleep. I have to either restart it or lock it and then sign in again to get trackpad working. After restarting trackpad works completely fine.

I have tried updating all the mouse drivers and no windows updates are pending. Even I also tried reinstalling my windows, but after upgrading widows to latest the problem again shows up.

Please help me to resolve this issue.

Trackpad doesn't work when waking from sleep

Often when I wake my laptop from sleep, my trackpad stops working. I've enabled ctrl to show where the cursor is, and it does not move. The trackpoint does not work either. In "ELAN Trackpoint for..." it shows the trackpoint as off with the toggle greyed
out. After multiple restarts, the trackpoint disappears from Settings (in Devices), and the keyboard stops working (but the FN keys might still work). After multiple more restarts, things usually go back to normal until the device goes to sleep. My touchscreen
and stylus still work as normal. I've tried updating drivers in Device Manager, which did not find any available updates. USB mice do work as normal, but I often need to use the trackpad. What should I do to fix this?

 

ASUS Laptop Won't Wake from Sleep Mode

Problem: about 80% of the time, my laptop won't wake up from sleep mode via keyboard press or mouse move/click. I seem to be missing many common features in power plan too, even after fresh Windows 10 install.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Reinstalled Windows 10 (clean)
2. Updated all drivers
3. Replicated on multiple Windows 10 versions, updates
4. BIOS latest version
5. No USB devices attached, ever. Only USB-C power and bluetooth mouse
6. Disabled "fast startup" in control panel

 

Login Screen disappears after waking laptop from sleep

Someone else complained about this and in fact appeared to be at the Login screen but apparently without any provision for doing a conventional sign-in. Unfortunately they didn't complete the diagnosis to try to find a less invasive workaround.

You both are posting in the Windows Hello forum which suggests you may be being affected by that feature's UX (which I am not familiar with, in particular don't know what all would be required to get out of that mode and into a normal login.)
