  1. Just one computer on my network downloads in small intermittent chunks

Just one of the computers on my local network seems to have some issue with downloading stuff and when it does download, it absolutely destroys the connection for the entire rest of the network. A rough ASCII sketch of the download speed looks like:

    _

    ___ _ ____ ___ _____________

    ____ _____________________ _______ _______________________________ ______________________________

Where the first pleateau is ~111Kb/s and the rest of the time it's functionally 0.

The network resource manager says it's using the entire internet bandwidth 6Mb/S and for every other computer on the network the network becomes next to unusable. This issue also happens when copying files across to that computer locally except for destroying the local connection; it's just super slow.

None of the other computers on the network suffer from this problem and download at substantially higher and constant speeds, so it's definitely that computer specifically. It's using a wireless connection, as do many of the computers on the network.

I've tried most of the basic fixes: turning it off and on again, updating/rolling back the drivers on the network adapter, checking there's nothing else using the connection at the time, doing a virus scan, running the basic networking troubleshooting. None of these have worked and my initial internet search hasn't turned up anything that might help; everywhere thinks it's usually a router error which I suspect it isn't since it's only the one computer.

Any ideas on where to go from here? Hope I've provided enough information.

    :)

I'll be adding a small page on doing this in windows vista soon, since XP is the same with a step or two less, i assume people will figure it out.
