Windows 10: Unable to move Captures folder from C drive to external drive.

I cannot move my Captures folder for saving screenshots and game clips. I am trying to move it to an external drive, but changing the registry key does not work, and Captures settings shows it in my Users folder; when I try to move it to the external drive, as instructed by support.xbox.com, it copies the folder rather than moving it, and if I delete it from the Users folder, it recreates it when I try to capture game footage.


How do I move this thing? I've done it on another computer before, but now I can't. You'd think the Captures Settings menu would allow you to target the folder directly, but you have to use File Explorer? Why? And why doesn't editing the registry key work? This is ridiculous.

Perhaps my question /description was not clear. The contents of the external drive, let’s call it N, are not in the C drive tree as files or folders. The N drive is duplicated with its drive letter and contents as a C drive folder. Deleting
from that folder on the C drive also deletes from the external drive. And visa versa.

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.
