Windows 10: Can't get past BSOD

My apologies for not following the BSOD log instructions/version number but I am unable to get past the BSOD. My Dell XPS 8900 is about 5 years old with OEM Win10. I have never reinstalled Win10 so guess I'm due. I remember reinstalling Win95 every 6 months.

Problem started a couple of weeks ago after latest features update. I was getting a fair amount of crashes, but was able to press on. Now, I'm stuck with only BSOD. I'm mostly OK with data backed up to external drive. On PC, I keep data on separate D drive. One item I'd like to recover from C drive is Internet browsing history. Forgot to back that up.

Some of the options that pop up on startup include "Uninstall Updates", but that wouldn't function. I tried "System Restore", but no luck there. I'm resigned to re-installing Win10, but would like to backup my Internet history in 4 or 5 browsers. Sometimes, it'll boot to Windows for a few seconds before crashing. BSOD- atikmpag.sys

This is most likely due to an installation/upgrade error with ATI driver's. I suggest doing DriveSweeper and the following:

• Drivesweeper all drivers & in Safe Mode
• Unistall all drivers that aren't used in DriveSweeper (CCC Profiler Updates, MSI AfterBurner, anything related to ATI that use's it's drivers.)
• After you do this, the first thing you need to do is go into Device Manager and Unistall your ATI Drivers

Once your done, restart the PC and then try installing the latest drivers.


I had several issues with this in the past, but I overcame it with logical reasoning and whenever I have a driver issue, I just use these steps and I always overcome the problem.

Best thermal paste

Most decent thermal paste is about all the same (1-2 degree difference). Without knowing the two listed, (I use MX-2), I would suggest going with the one that is non-conductive.

 

Help with heat sink thermal paste for h100i 1800x

Use the paste you brought. Also I would have suggest artic x4 unless yours is better but yes use yours.

Actually check the temp with the factory standard factory paste first and list the temps
