Forcing High-Contrast Mode to keep icons on some programs

    Hello,

as my eyes are quite light-sensitive and have some problems with, I want to use the High-Contrast mode, but icons on some programs are simply not shown (replaced by a black box).

Is there some workaround or anything I could do to maintain the black on white and also maintain icons from the "normal" mode? Whether its some registry th9ing to force it keep all icons (like the ones in taskbar, etc.), or some 3rd party software that does the same etc. Just want to be able to work normally with a simple black on white (Dark Theme doesn't do that as it only changes the Windows-specific background, not system-wide).

Here an example of what is happening (top is high-contrast, bottom is normal):

  3. An UWP app have high-contrast taskbar icon but Windows is not in high-contrast mode

After installing Windows 10 version 1709 Fall Creators Update, the taskbar icon for Skype for Windows 10 changed to high-contrast mode even though Windows 10 is not in high-contrast mode.

The version of Skype for Windows 10 is 12.8.487.0.

I have tried to uninstall Skype, reboot my computer, and install Skype again. But the taskbar icon is still in high-contrast mode.

I have tried to enable and then disable high-contrast mode.

I have tried other UWP apps like Facebook and Netflix, and they have the colored taskbar icons.

I also tested the classic version of Skype, version 7.40, and the taskbar icon is the correct blue one.

I am clueless to what to try next now.

Sidenote: I have already asked this question in the Skype for Windows 10 section. And after the usual reboot and reinstall suggestions, I was told to contact Windows technical support which landed me here.
