    I have a HP Omen laptop with Windows 10 64-bit installed. Each time I open my laptop over the last few days, I find that all of my open programs e.g., Chrome, Excel, Notepad, Windows Mail, Explorer, Media Player have closed. I checked C:\Windows\Minidump for a dump file and found a dmp file created in the middle of the night while laptop was asleep. I then opened WinDbg Preview in an attempt to diagnose the issue, but didn't see anything glaring having said that, I am not experienced in debugging Windows issues. I didn't see a way to securely attach the dmp file, and I'm unsure whether it's wise to copy/paste the raw bugcheck analysis from the debugger, so I'd greatly appreciate advice on how to proceed.

    Windows 10 programs closed after sleep mode and volume muted

    Windows 10 keeps closing my open programs / apps during sleep mode. My previously opened applications are closed and the computer volume is muted upon wake up. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix available?

    I'm using a Dell XPS15 laptop.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Hello Adam,

    This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Windows 10 closes all open programs/apps while laptop is sleeping :)

    In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
