  2. developer mode making wmi provider host use high cpu

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you the WMI provider host use high CPU of the PC. Usually, WMI Host Provider doesn’t use much usage of the CPU. It will use the CPU when any software or script that asks for some information via WMI. High usage of the
CPU is just the sign that another software is seeking for some information or requesting any data via WMI.

However, the high usage of the CPU for a long time for WMI is an indication that something is wrong because WMI Provider Host doesn’t occupy the resources of the CPU for a long time.

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these methods and check if the issue is fixed.

    1. Click on Start Menu and type CMD, right click on
CMD icon and select Run as administrator.
    2. In the Command Prompt Window type the following command and press
      Enter after each command.
    • net stop iphlpsvc
    • net stop wscsvc
    • net stop Winmgmt
    • net start Winmgmt
    • net start wscsvc
    • net start iphlpsvc
    3. Restart your computer and check if the WMI provider Host having high CPU usage

      Show Analytic and Debug Logs.
    3. On the left pane, navigate to this path Applications and Service Logs > Microsoft > Windows > WMI Activity > Operational log. Now Mark or Note down the Item that listed as an
      Error
    4. Now press the Windows Logo Key +
      X
      simultaneously, then select Task Manager.
    5. Now, click on the Service tab and Find the processes with the Matching IDs as seen in

  3. Service Host High CPU usage

Service Host: Local Service (No Network) (3) and Service Host: Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) combined are using 30% of my laptop's i7-5600 CPU.

I've taken the following measures suggested by the internet to no avail:

    Disabled Windows Search

    Disabled Superfetch

    Disabled Windows Tips

    Set MSISupported key to 0

    Set BITS to manual

    Ran CCleaner

Processes running under Local Service: Windows Defender Firewall, CoreMessaging, and Base Filtering Engine

Processes running under Internet Connection Sharing: Internet Connection Sharing

I am running Norton, so so I can't Windows Defender defaults.

I'd like to fix this without doing a complete reinstall of Windows 10 or breaking this computer. Thanks!

Service Host: Windows Event Log has been using 1% of CPU nonstop for a bit now. Is this...

Windows 10 "Service Host: Local Service (No Network)" drains CPU constantly

I've had this problem for at least several months.
I noticed a lot of threads without a happy ending:

    1. High CPU Usage from "Service Host: Local Service [...]
    2. Service Host: Local Service (No Network) (3) and Service Host: Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) causing High CPU
    3. svchost.exe Service Host: Local Service (No Network) - Permanent CPU usage
    4. service host: Local Service (No Network) (5) taking up all my CPU resources (i5-4690k)

And I did try all the suggestions made in these threads including:

    1. Updating the windows to the latest version
    2. Troubleshoot network, update, etc
    3. killing all other software, changing MSISUPPORTED of my SSD disk in regedit etc.

One thing I noticed is that the problem disappears in safemode.
