Windows 10: Windows 10 Search Takes too long on Map drives and won't search inside folders.

Hey everyone,



So recently we went from W7 to W10, but everyone is complaining about the horrible search times for finding files on the server.

Note this server has over 500,000 files when we indexed.

We of course look to indexing and index the entire drive. We looked up the search options, what works best etc. etc.

Now we noticed it won't even search inside the files contents even with things checked.

Most suggestions online say to make a bug report? But that was years ago. Surely a fix is out by now?

I rebuilt the index about 5 times. All taking very long because its over 500k files.

Any suggestions/ ideas?

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Searching Favourites in Maps/Drive

Hey all,



Just wanted to know if there is a way to search through your favourites in the Maps/Drive app. I have a relatively long list (100+) of favourites saved and it is not easy to search by scrolling through the entire list. It doesnt help that the scrolling is
quite cumbersome and laggy.



Also, is it possible to organise favourites into collections like on the Symbian app?
