  1. Help with Audio Problem

I have tried searching and googling this problem, but not sure how to explain it in a short snippet. My problem is when I switch to a new audio source, be it a game, or webpage more often than not it instead of the audio playing a really loud distorted static and noise plays. To fix this sometimes I can refresh the page, change the volume, but lots of time that doesn't help. What always works is disabling my output device in sound manager and re enabling it. This is happening more and more often and its pretty frustrating.

My setup: Windows 10, Core I7 4790k, GTX 1080 graphics card thats hooked up to a sony str-dh790 atmos surround sound receiver via a HDMI hdcp 2.2 4k hdr cable that is then hooked up to a viewsonic px727-4k projector with the same hdmi cable. I run 4k resolution with hdr and dolby atmos surround sound.

I can turn the receiver on and off and switch the sources and the same with the projector and it doesnt fix the issue so I think it must be something with my computer. Any ideas? I should have the latest sound drivers.

Hi there SimonWildZX, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

May I suggest to completely uninstall all Audio drivers listed in the Device manager including the headset. Please make sure to completely remove.

Here is how to do it.

Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio devices. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

Repeat the steps in all the Audio devices listed.

Then reboot. then test the headset again.
