  1. Not able to drag url shortcuts into phones folders through Windows 10 File Explorer and a USB-C

When I try to drag an internet shortcut that is in a Windows 10 desktop folder to my Samsung S20+ Cell Phone, the desktop makes a dinging alert sound and the links do not paste. I do not know what the ding is since there is no notification a notification would be nice and may give me a clue. If I drag url's web page shortcuts drug from chrome into a file folder on the desktop and other files, the desktop pastes everything into the phones folder until it reaches the first url being pasted, then it stops pasting everything else. There is no error and you may think it pasted the rest of the files after the 1st url but where you open up the folder on the phone a bunch of stuff is missing. If there are no url's it drags and drops everything fine. I cant figure out what the dinging is, there are no notifications and I've tried to watch task manager.

All google searches I can find talk about dragging from the Chrome browser into the desktop or moving bookmarks etc. within the App, but none talk about copy and paste or drag and drop onto a cell phone.

Note: I am connected via USB C between the computer and phone. I am dragging from the computer to the Micro SD card and folders within that on the cell phone. The files I want to drag and drop or copy paste are on the desktop in a folder. Same thing happens when I try to do this onto the internal memory of the phone vs. the Micro SD card.

    Can anyone tell me:
    1. What the dinging means it appears to mean you can't do this, but if I could see the alert it would help me understand the exact problem and solve it.

    2. Why can't you copy and paste url's onto a phone through the USB-C and how do you resolve the problem

    3. If the USB C is a hard wire to the phone and thus SD card, why doesn't this work but I can remove and insert the Micro SD Card into my desktop slot and I can drag & drop everything including the url's?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Ahhzz Win User

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Ways to Drag Files or Folders

    Summary:

This article covers ways to drag files or folders while working on File Explorer.

Here's a list of ways to copy, move, or create shortcuts:

CTRL while dragging a file - Copy a file to another drive or folder. *

SHIFT while dragging a file - Move a file to another drive. **

ALT while dragging a file - Create a shortcut to a file on the desktop or another location.

*: You can also drag a file or folder to another drive, which means copying.

**: If moving a file or folder to another folder on the same drive, you don't need to hold SHIFT while dragging a file or folder.

TIP: If you use your right mouse button to drag a file or folder to another folder or desktop and release it, you will get three options: Copy Here, Move Here, and Create Shortcut(s) Here.

  4. Not able to drag url shortcuts into phones folders through Windows 10 File Explorer and a USB-C

Drag and drop files, I am not able to drag files from the files window to folders in the navigation pane.

    • I am able to do the same using other computers with Windows 10.
    • If I drag and drop to other file explorer windows, the file(s) copy or move as expected as long as I don't try to drop them on a folder in a navigation pane.
    • I do not get any error messages.

I get the following when sfc completes:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some

of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For

example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not

    supported in offline servicing scenarios.
