  1. files larger than 500 MB corrupted after copying them from an SSD hard drive to a SATA hard...

I copied all the project folders to another hard drive from a SSD hard to a SATA hard.

Copying was completed successfully, and upon completion, I formatted the hard drive from which I copied, and I needed to use it for other reasons.

After a while, 1 ~ 2 days, trying to use the copied files on the SATA hard drive, I found that the ".max" files no longer open. ".max" = 3ds max save file, an archive type, as far as I understand, but smaller files of the same ".max" type are still good and can be used.

The idea is that I don't know if the SATA hard drive was FAT32 or NTFS, or how it was formatted, but I'm imperatively interested in correcting those files, which are advanced saves of elaborate 3d projects.

If I change the extension to ".zip" I can open the file with an archiving program, but I can't extract anything from the file. Please tell me there is a solution.

    thank you

    :)

  2. SSD Detected - Secondary Drive (Hard drive) is not

Ever since doing a fresh install of Windows 10, in "This PC", my secondary hard drive is not in the list. I have already tried right clicking "This PC" and clicking Manage -> Disk Management, but there is nothing there except my SSD with Windows 10 installed.

I have tried changing SATA cables, SATA ports, but it still does not appear in This PC. I have also tried installing my hard drive on a another computer to see if the files were corrupted. They were not, all files were still the same before the installation
of Windows 10. I did not leave the hard drive plugged in during the installation.

In the BIOS, my computer recognizes both my SSD and my hard drive, but in This PC, it's still missing.

Anything else I can do? Thank you! files larger than 500 MB corrupted after copying them from an SSD hard drive to a SATA hard... :)

    Hard drive corruption

I'm guessing you may be putting corrupted files in your hard drive / may be a virus.

CANNOT DELETE A CORRUPTED FILE ON MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE ON WINDOWS 10

    Hi Leenus,

Hard drive and other external memory storage can be corrupted on account of bad sectors which are no longer accessible or writable due to permanent damage. Your device or hard drive could also be infected by some type of malware. These are some of the possible
causes why you are experiencing the error "ERROR 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". To address this concern, we suggest performing the following troubleshooting methods:

    Method 1

Check and repair disk errors or corrupted file system. This process can fix "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error caused by bad sectors, virus infection or file system corruption. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Back up all of the files on the hard drive (except for the corrupted file).
    • Using Search, type CMD.
    • From the search results, right-click on Command Prompt and then choose Run as administrator.
    • On the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk /f h: (h stands for your hard drive) and then hit the Enter key.
    • Delete the corrupted file and check if you'll experience the same error.

    Method 2

Format the hard drive. You can manually format the hard drive to permanently remove "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error. These are the steps on how to format an external drive:

    • Plug the hard drive into your computer.
    • Back up all of the files on the hard drive (except for the corrupted file).
    • Open File Explorer and then click This PC.
    • Click the external hard drive's name, click on Manage tab and then click on Format.
    • Click Start and then click OK.

Keep us updated with the result.
