Windows 10: Windows 10 not recognizing when I plug in headset

Hello,


Recently I've been having issues with using headsets, and more specifically microphones, on my laptop. Previously I used just some regular earbuds with a microphone and about five months ago, that worked, people could hear me fine and correctly, but recently it hasn't been recognizing anything I plug in as the microphone it should be using.


I just bought a new headset to see if the headphones were the issue, but it's still the same. Whenever I plug the device into the headphone jack, a pop up comes up that says: "Information: Click here to select the type of audio device that was just plugged in.". Though whenever I click on that, the notification simply disappears and doesn't take me anywhere. Occasionally the device menu will come up and ask me to select what type of audio device it is, I have it checked as a headset.


I've gone into my sound settings and the input and output are still set to my actual laptop, when I try to select a different device for it, nothing is in the drop-down menu.


Can anyone help me with this issue? I'd really bugging me and I just want to play Among Us with my friends where they can actually hear me.

Windows 10 not recognizing that I have just plugged in a headset.

I just got a Nextech slim pc headset. I plugged it into the microphone and headset jack. Windows 10 is not recognizing the new device under recording devices. I bought the headset so that i could use Cortana. I have turned Cortana off. I have tried to
add a device in settings and it does not find the headset. I have checked to insure that my drivers are up to date. Does anyone know how to add a headset when it does not recognize that you have a headset plugged in?

You could try going into settings and running the 'Troubleshooter'. Although this might not work as I think it may be a software/driver issue.




Ah okay. I have had a look at the manufacture Nubwo, and there doesn't seem to be any official drivers or software listed.

Thus I would suggest we try and uninstall everything related to the headset, and then let everything install automatically, as it had done on the other desktop (assuming everything was automatically configured, and it just worked).

1.) See if you can first remove the Realtek Audio Manager 1.0.0.222 software by uninstalling it.

• Settings > Apps > Click on the app and select 'Uninstall.'

2.) After that right click on Start menu (*Start) and select 'Device Manager'

• Under the 'View' tab, select 'Show hidden devices'
• Then click on the arrow before 'Sound, video and game controllers' as well as 'Audio inputs and outputs' (this should drop down to reveal a list of audio drivers and headsets)
• I can help you with which driver (in relation to your headset) to uninstall, if you post back with a screenshot.

Optional.) Or if you are comfortable with knowing which driver to uninstall, then do so

• Right click on the driver name > Uninstall (Check 'delete software for this device'). Perform a restart and plug the headset back in.

 

Does windows 10 recognize when earphones are plugged in?

I would like to inform that Windows 10 does recognize and display a prompt when earphones are plugged in. I would like to ask if you are able to listen to sound from the earphone when plugged in.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar and press Enter.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.
