Need Help Understanding Backups with Macrium

I've spent countless hours trying to research this so I can understand it and I'm still having issues.

If I use software such as Macrium, I can clone my C drive to an SSD so that if my C drive were to fail, I could pop in the SSD and that's it. It's basically like nothing happened, correct?

But what if I wanted to do a backup in case the clone failed? How could I use Macrium to make an image backup to restore Windows 10 on the C drive? I know how to do a basic image backup, but is there anything else needed? Do I need to make a recovery disc or a bootable something or other?

These videos and articles don't say what to do if the entire C drive fails. They're telling me how to restore the computer with a backup image, but they're not telling me how to do that if the computer doesn't boot. I can't understand that. Can someone please explain this or point me to a video that shows what to do. Or is that the whole purpose of a clone? I can't really understand the purpose of a backup image.

    :)

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.

Need Serious Help: How To Record Video of What is Done on my PC?

I suggest the following simple steps:

    1. Set the autosave options in MS Office to a low value say 5 minutes.
    2. Setup file history to autosave frequently - the shortest period is 5 mins
    3. Install Macrium Reflect Free and configure it to do a daily incremental system backup

You should be well covered if you do the above to protect your key files.

    Macrium Reflect Backup Failures

    Hi.
I don't understand why you're contacting Dell and MS? *Confused
I thought we were going to try my instructions in post #115?
Those steps need to be performed, in that order.
A repair install should not be done until post #115 is completed and results known for each step, where appropriate.
