Difficulty in getting 2 PCs to network...almost there, I think?

HP Windows 10 v. 2004 (19041.508), MS Surface6 W10 v. 10,0,18363 build 18363 Need some help before I down another bottle of Valium. The problem started out when Logitech Options wasn't allowing me to use its Flow function between my HP Envy and MS Surface 6...after it has been working for a year, or so. This led me to start looking at my networking between the desktop and the laptop. Going to File Explorer and clicking Network on the HP, both computers were there. However, on the laptop, there was no sign of the HP. Well, this led to a day of researching and trial and error. I got both the laptop and HP to have the same settings (in "Change sharing options for different network profiles") --private network, share files and printer, no password credentialing, and they are both on the same network. But, when 2x clicking on the HP icon within the Surface's Network, the folders that come up all need permissions -- I'd give them permission, but I don't know where to find the place to do it? One of the stupid things I did (following a net tutorial) was to monkey with the Services. However, I forgot which computer I did and which services I changed. Although, the only changes that I did make were from Manual to Auto and to make sure that those changes were running. So, after all this, where am I now?

Going to the HP's File Explorer and clicking Network, only the HP is there; whereas, I now have both computers on the laptop's Network. I think I must be close to getting the two computers to share files, I am now just plain to worn out to continue on my own and could use some help. Thanks.

    :)

2 W10 PCs on home network

MAC addresses are unique and are hardwired into every Network Adapter manufactured (aka NIC card). They just aren't unique to a specific device with regards to brand, make and model. A lot of manufactures gets parts from different vendors so it stands to reason not every address will be for the same vendor or item.

As to identifying what's what on your network, perhaps this article could shed some light - How to Determine Who Is Connected to Your Wireless Network

That said, I think you need to stick to one problem at a time to lessen confusion. Either solving the network communication issue or figuring out what's on your network.

And you never answered my suggested fix post. Where are we on that???

My PC is not listed in Network

Hi Eagle51 & thanks for quick response

I am very grateful for your help

1 was not enabled. I enabled it and restarted the HT-PC, but now the HT-PC is not visible in Network list on any computer.

...then i run 2 and both was true.

    Next step?

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.
